The software allows you to customize for your specific brew equipment and style, or you can simply select one of their preset system set ups. In all of about 5 minutes you can choose a target style and create your own recipe and the software will predict where you will fall within the guidelines of the style as well as create a shopping list for you recipe, brew day instructions, and an area to document your brew day. I have only played around with the basics thus far and to me even just these basic functions are worth the price. I have never used any brewing software, but I must say this program is extremely easy to use. I had read a lot about BeerSmith on homebrewtalk and elsewhere so I thought I would give the 21 day trial a shot. Now that I have become more comfortable with my system and back in the swing of brewing, I would like to start deviating from some of the published recipes and create some of my own. I just completed a 21 day free trial of BeerSmith and pulled the trigger on purchasing this software.
